Visiting Fellows

A non-funded research fellowship for external scholars holding a PhD to utilize the Warburg Institute's collections and contribute to its academic community.

Fellowship
The Warburg Institute's Visiting Fellowship scheme offers external scholars the opportunity to conduct research using the Institute's extensive collections and actively participate in its academic and intellectual life. Designed for individuals who hold a PhD qualification and are active in publishing within fields relevant to the Warburg Institute's work and intellectual resources, this program is not suitable for current PhD students. Fellows are typically invited to reside at the Institute for a minimum of six months, primarily during term-time. Participants are expected to fully leverage the Institute's intellectual resources, contribute to its scholarly environment through a blog post, and may be invited to present their research in the Work in Progress series. While the Warburg Institute does not provide funding for these fellowships, applicants may hold stipendiary fellowships from external organizations. Desk space is not provided, but ample seating is available in the Library. Non-British and non-EU nationals should verify visa requirements, as the Institute cannot sponsor Tier 2 or 5 visas; a Standard Visitor visa, allowing up to six months of research, is usually applicable.
