The Overseas Researcher Program at Waseda University provides eligibility and status for a fixed period to researchers from academic and research institutions outside Japan. This program is exclusively designed for conducting research activities, and enrollment in courses or earning course credits is strictly prohibited. Applicants are required to possess sufficient language ability in either Japanese or English to effectively conduct their research and educational activities.

Application
Criteria: Applicants must possess sufficient proficiency in either Japanese or English for research and educational activities. The program is exclusively for conducting research; course enrollment and credit earning are not permitted. Visiting Scholars must hold an academic position equivalent to a full-time lecturer or higher at Waseda University. Visiting Research Fellows must hold an academic position equivalent to or higher than a research associate at Waseda University, requiring at least a master's degree or equivalent academic qualifications. Financial support (scholarship/research fund) is required for Visiting Research Fellows affiliated with the Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies. Research Interns must be currently enrolled in a master’s program at a university outside Japan; the Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies does not accept Research Interns.
