Queen Mary University of London Visiting Scholars (English and Drama)

Opportunities for PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, and academics to conduct research and engage with the academic community in English or Drama at Queen Mary University of London.

Research Stay
The School of English and Drama at Queen Mary University of London offers various schemes for external scholars to engage with its vibrant academic community. These opportunities are designed for a range of academics, including PhD students currently enrolled at other institutions, distinguished academics, and postdoctoral scholars. Visiting PhD Students can spend between one and twelve months at QMUL, receiving mentorship and gaining access to extensive library resources at Queen Mary and Senate House Library, as well as university networks. They are encouraged to actively participate in the School's research culture by attending seminars and research training events. Distinguished Visiting Fellows, who are established academics, can benefit from free on-campus accommodation for one to three weeks while presenting their research and contributing to PhD training. For scholars of postdoctoral standing, the Visiting and Honorary Scholars scheme allows for stays of up to three years. Participants in this scheme are paired with a mentor, gain access to QMUL facilities, including IT and library services, and are encouraged to integrate into the department's research environment. While Visiting PhD Students and Visiting and Honorary Scholars may incur monthly fees, these can be waived for applicants from low-income and lower middle-income countries under the latter scheme. All visiting scholars contribute to and benefit from the rich intellectual life within the School of English and Drama.
