Cornell Summer School on Designing Technology for Social Impact

Summer research workshop fostering underrepresented researchers in information technology for social impact.

Summer School
This summer research workshop is designed to foster a strong cohort of underrepresented researchers working on topics related to the social impact of information technology. Information technology has enormous societal impacts, both positive and negative, often as consequences of early design decisions. The program aims to empower researchers, designers, and developers from ethnically underrepresented communities to articulate social impact and potential for communities that other technology developers might overlook, thereby creating alternative, innovative visions for technology. Rising seniors and graduate students at any stage from a variety of disciplines are invited to attend, including informatics, computer science, science and technology studies, communication, product design, urban and rural studies, and visual arts. The goal is to build a cohort of up-and-coming researchers, provide experience in this research area, and offer research and career-building opportunities.
