Biostatistics Summer Internship Program

A paid summer internship at Weill Cornell Medicine for undergraduate students interested in health data analysis and improving healthcare outcomes.

Research Internship
The Biostatistics Summer Internship Program, offered by the Division of Biostatistics at Weill Cornell Medicine, is a paid opportunity designed for undergraduate students and recent graduates who possess an interest in health care and data analysis. The program runs from June 8, 2026, to July 24, 2026, and focuses on applying biostatistical methods to real-world health research questions. Participants are expected to work in small groups to complete an applied health research project, which involves conceptualizing a statistical analysis plan, cleaning data, conducting analyses, reporting conclusions, and creating and presenting a poster. Throughout the internship, students will benefit from comprehensive educational programming, including weekly lectures on fundamental and current topics in public health data analysis, an introductory R crash course, and a research spotlight series showcasing projects by Weill Cornell Medicine biostatisticians. A career development series provides insights into various professional paths for biostatisticians and related health data analysis professionals. Additionally, interns receive individualized professional development support through weekly one-on-one meetings with a biostatistician mentor to discuss career goals, next steps, and soft skills such as networking and resume building. The program also facilitates community-building events and activities in New York City. Eligibility is open to U.S. citizens/permanent residents or international students studying at a U.S. university. R coding experience is preferred but not required.
