Research Stay
The Centers for Mechanical Engineering Research and Education at MIT and the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) aim to foster research collaborations and inspire new approaches to engineering education. Each year SUSTech students, faculty, and postdocs have the opportunity to learn, teach, and conduct research at MIT. Meanwhile, faculty and students from MIT are invited to travel to Shenzhen and observe developments in the area ’s innovation ecosystem, through a number of programs.

Application

Deadline:
  • February 15, 2025
Criteria: Must be a student, faculty, or postdoc affiliated with either MIT or SUSTech. Students must maintain good academic standing and demonstrate the ability to handle rigorous academic standards. Specific GPA requirements may apply depending on the home institution and program track (e.g., a minimum 4.3 GPA for MIT students in MISTI exchange programs, or a minimum 2.5 CGPA for undergraduates/B for graduates in other SUSTech exchanges). English proficiency is likely required for non-native English speakers.

Costs & Contact

Stipend: Fully funded (airfare, housing, small stipend for meals and transportation) for MIT students
Cost: No tuition/program fees for MIT students
