Weill Cornell Medicine Summer Research Fellowship

A program for premedical students offering experiential research training and insights into medicine, focusing on health disparities and medical school preparation.

Research Internship
The Weill Cornell Medicine Summer Research Fellowship (WCMSRF) is designed to provide premedical students with experiential research training and meaningful insights into the field of medicine. Participants engage in laboratory or clinical research under the supervision of a faculty member, learning investigative techniques applicable to their future medical education. The program also offers a didactic curriculum focusing on public health issues such as healthcare for the under and uninsured, healthcare disparities, and research basics. Additionally, it includes financial aid presentations, practical advice on the medical school application process and MCAT preparation from current medical students, and career panel discussions with a diverse range of physicians. A key part of the curriculum involves a panel discussion with diversity and admissions deans from New York medical schools. The program also offers limited opportunities for physician shadowing. The WCMSRF aims to enhance participants' knowledge of conditions and policies impacting the health of traditionally underserved populations.
