The Institute of Languages, Cultures and Societies (ILCS) offers Visiting Fellowships and Scholarships for scholars to conduct research in humanities, including both non-stipendiary and various funded options such as the Sylvia Naish, Bithell, and Miller Fellowships. These programs run for one to ten months, typically from October to July, at the ILCS or its affiliated research centres. Participants receive shared office space with Wi-Fi and printing facilities, alongside access to the University of London
DQs Senate House Library, particularly strong in Germanic and Latin American Studies, and other School of Advanced Study libraries. Fellows and Scholars are expected to actively engage in the Institute's intellectual life, present their research, and may contribute by organizing events or publishing work on SAS-Space and the ILCS blog. A final report detailing their activities is required. Fellowships are primarily for post-doctoral scholars with a strong publication record, while doctoral students are eligible for Scholarships. Please note that living accommodation is not provided by the Institute.
