An intensive 8-week summer research experience for undergraduate students in genomics and bioinformatics.
Research Internship
The New York Genome Centers259s Summer Internship Program provides an intensive 8-week summer research experience for undergraduate students. Interns receive hands-on mentorship from assigned mentors within the research laboratories, scientific groups, or administrative departments at the center. This program offers invaluable exposure to genomics and cutting-edge research, fostering collaboration with leading genomic researchers. Throughout their time, students focus on developing essential laboratory and research skills, preparing them for future academic or career pursuits. In addition to their internship responsibilities, participants engage in a diverse array of specially curated events and enrichment opportunities, including weekly workshops, presentations, career panels, and social gatherings. Summer projects may involve implementing new modules and algorithms for sequencing data analysis, benchmarking and integrating new bioinformatics tools into existing pipelines, coding standalone tools or small pipelines/workflows for sequencing data analysis, analyzing, summarizing, and visualizing results from sequencing datasets, and analyzing error models of last-generation sequencing technologies.
