CUNY Institute for Implementation Science in Population Health (ISPH)

The institute provides multidisciplinary research and training opportunities in population health and implementation science for students, fellows, and scholars.

Research Internship
The CUNY Institute for Implementation Science in Population Health (ISPH) brings together multidisciplinary teams of researchers to conduct impactful, cutting-edge research on population health and related outcomes, including programmatic and service delivery implementation, and clinical interventions. The institute provides research and training opportunities for faculty, students, post-doctoral fellows, interns, and visiting scholars. Its central mission is to translate research into sustainable, cost-effective population-level interventions, strategies, initiatives, and policies that have the potential to improve health on a large scale and reduce health disparities globally. This is achieved by understanding biological mechanisms, disease drivers, and identifying implementation gaps, then designing and conducting rigorous studies to assess the impact of strategies aimed at improving population health outcomes. The ISPH fosters multidisciplinary research collaborations across different health outcomes and disease types with public sector health agencies, healthcare organizations, clinical researchers, community-based organizations, and policymakers. A primary goal is to provide hands-on research training for master's/doctoral students and post-doctoral fellows, and to host visiting scholars at the intersection of implementation science and population health. The institute is a CUNY-wide initiative, involving core participation from the Graduate School of Public Health and Health Policy (GSPHHP), City College of New York, and Hunter College, with associated faculty affiliates throughout the City University of New York.
