Surveillance Technology Oversight Project Research Intern

Research internship focusing on the impact of government surveillance on civil rights and racial justice, offered by the Surveillance Technology Oversight Project.

Research Internship
The Surveillance Technology Oversight Project (S.T.O.P.) offers research internships where participants engage in advocacy-oriented research. Interns are responsible for developing materials that explore the multifaceted impact of government surveillance technologies on civil rights and racial justice. This involves contributing research to S.T.O.P.'s op-eds and conference proposals, requiring strong analytical and writing skills. Ideal candidates possess research experience in fields suchs as surveillance technology, government technology usage, or online privacy, and demonstrate a clear passion for civil rights and privacy. The program is open to current or recent undergraduate and graduate students. While S.T.O.P. is based in New York City, internships can be conducted entirely remotely, offering flexibility. Participants may also take advantage of co-working meetups and in-person advocacy events if in NYC. These positions are currently unpaid and are suitable for individuals seeking college credit or relying on outside funding. S.T.O.P. is actively working towards establishing a paid internship program in the future.
