The Chemical Biology Summer Program (ChBSP) is a 10-week research program offered by the Tri-Institutional PhD Program in Chemical Biology and the Office of Science Education & Training at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. This program is designed for outstanding undergraduate rising juniors and seniors majoring in chemistry, biochemistry, or chemical biology who are interested in a career at the intersection of chemistry and biomedicine. Participants engage in a hands-on research experience across the Weill Cornell, Memorial Sloan Kettering, and Rockefeller University campuses. The program requires applicants to have prior chemistry coursework and laboratory experience. During the internship, students adapt their chemistry skills to address biomedically-focused research questions in cutting-edge laboratories. The curriculum also includes weekly luncheon/seminar series featuring faculty presentations and professional development workshops. At the conclusion of the program, students present a poster detailing their research work. All accepted students receive a stipend of $6,500 for the summer, generously sponsored by the Tri-Institutional Therapeutics Discovery Institute, and housing is available. Students are partnered with faculty from the participating institutions who are actively conducting research in diverse areas of biomedical sciences, welcoming the expertise of chemistry-focused undergraduates. The program strongly encourages applications from students from groups historically underrepresented in science.
