Wellcome Summer Internship Programme

An eight-week summer internship program for undergraduates designed to provide valuable work experience and develop skills within a global charity.

Research Internship
The Wellcome Summer Internship Programme offers eight-week internships for undergraduates, designed to inspire, encourage, and support a new generation. Interns work alongside experienced staff, building existing skills and gaining new ones, while making a real contribution to the organization. The programme provides valuable on-the-job work experience and an opportunity to understand Wellcome and the work undertaken by various teams. Participants typically engage in summer volunteering programmes and receive formal learning on presentation skills. Interns work on real projects as part of a cohort, developing new skills and gaining insight into Wellcome's operations. Each intern receives support and mentorship from a dedicated line manager and has opportunities for development, including meeting various Wellcome personnel, hearing from industry experts, attending career development workshops, and participating in group volunteering days. The programme aims to provide insight into the workings of a global charity, fostering valuable connections and experience for participants.
